Engineering & Manufacturing
What to expect
Learn from skilled professionals
Students work both individually and in teams to design solutions to a variety of problems for industry partners in work-based learning experiences. The course introduces trainees to building design and construction including structural and site design, utilities and services, cost estimation, stormwater management, and more.
Get hands-on training
Trainees in this course will learn and practice 3D modeling as a tool for the design, visualization, and testing of product ideas. Laser cutting, 3D printing, and CNC milling may be used to create physical prototypes. Trainees will analyze, design, and virtually build models of residential and commercial structures.
Dual-enrollment opportunities
Not only will trainees produce digital prototypes, serving as a virtual representation of a final product in industry-standard programs like Autocad Inventor and Autodesk Revit. They will have the opportunity to earn college credits that they can transfer to their college or university of choice after high school graduation.

NOCC’s Engineering & Manufacturing Academy trainees have the opportunity to take dual enrollment courses with the University of New Orleans’s College of Engineering*. Courses currently include:
• ENGR 1003 - Introduction to Engineering
• ENEE 1781 - Introduction to Engineering Design & Graphics
*Trainees must meet the requirements for dual enrollment set forth by the University of New Orleans
Whether you want to be a designer, engineer, machinist, animator, maker, artist, or just plain curious, this course will help you expand your knowledge into the world of engineering and professional 3D modeling. In year 1 of the Engineering & Manufacturing Academy, you will expand your knowledge in 3D modeling. In Year 2, Civil Engineering and Architecture exposes trainees to the design and construction of residential and commercial building projects through design teams and teamwork, various communication methods, technical guidelines, and engineering standards. Using the activity-project-problem-based (APPB) approach, trainees will continually practice their interpersonal skills and creativity, critical thinking strategies, and gain a deeper understanding of the engineering design process.
